If you dream about your fans singing their hearts out to your songs over and over again, then you need to meet them where they’re at: on the streaming platforms that have synchronized lyrics available.
Now that Apple has released Apple Sing and thousands are trying out the new "sing along" mode, it’s more important than ever for you to get your lyrics online and make sure they’re synced with Apple Music.
Here’s what you need to know!
Apple Sing is a new feature that Apple released in December 2022 as part of their streaming service. Available on iPhones and iPads equipped with the latest Apple operating system, Apple Sing transforms devices into portable karaoke machines, enabling subscribers to become the star of the show with real-time lyrics and adjustable vocals.
Using vocal-erasing processors, Sing can create a version of any song in the Apple Music library that users can sing along to, unlike traditional karaoke machines that are typically limited to a much smaller catalog of songs (not to mention, much lower quality versions of them, too.)
In other words, this means that subscribers can now:
On top of the new feature, Apple Music also launched a package of more than 50 playlists full of songs that have been optimized for the Apple Sing experience, promising that tens of millions of songs will follow.
Apple Music has 95 million users worldwide, an impressive number that is expected to continue rising, hitting 108 million in 2023 and 121 million in 2024. It’s also the most popular music streaming service in the United States and is available in 167 countries worldwide.
Finally, at $0.1 per stream, Apple Music pays almost double the amount of money per stream than Spotify does. So why not invest some time and energy into making sure your digital presence on the platform is as seamless as possible?
After all, with Apple Sing coming out and incentivizing their huge user base to listen to their favorite songs over and over again, you want to make sure your lyrics are uploaded and synced with the platform to benefit from this traffic too.
Apart from that, having your lyrics online correctly also:
First off, head over to pro.musixmatch.com and either log in to your existing account or sign up to create a new one.
To add a new artist, fill in your Apple profile links (as well as your other streaming platform links, too), and hit submit to send in your verification request.
Musixmatch aims to get back to all verification requests with a confirmation email within 48 hours. For more information about the verification process, check out this handy link here.
Once you receive the confirmation email, you’ll be a verified artist, meaning you’ll be able to upload and update your lyrics across all major streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and more. You can transcribe or edit lyrics from the Musixmatch Pro web page or mobile app. Pull up the song you want to transcribe and make sure to read over our Guidelines as well as Apple Music Guidelines for transcribing lyrics properly, in order to avoid any problems down the line.
After transcribing your lyrics, you can sync them to set the vocals in time with the music. Listen to the track and click to select the correct timing for each of the lyrics, making adjustments with the plus or minus signs to the left of each phrase. For more detailed instructions on Sync, click here.
And there you have it! After you’re done syncing, you can tag the lyrics and click send. Once they are verified on Musixmatch, they will automatically be submitted to Apple Music who will process them and decide if and when to publish them. According to Apple, it typically takes them around 10 business days for your lyrics to be updated or displayed in Apple Music.
